安岳毗盧洞第8窟大光明王捨頭布施像

位於窟右側下方。毗盧洞為僧人柳本尊的道場，造像中有表現其修煉證道的十煉圖，此情景係其中之一。據造像榜題稱：「本尊賢聖，於天福五年（940）七月十五日，以五香杆就一條●（月+葛）8燭，端坐煉頂，效釋迦佛鵲巢頂像，大光明王捨頭布施……」。此像即借表現大光明王捨頭布施的場景，來稱頌柳本尊燃燭煉頂的行跡。按《大方便佛報恩經》載，釋迦牟尼佛於過去為波羅奈國王，稱為大光明。王樂善好施，馳譽諸國，招致鄰國國王嫉妒。鄰國國王遂招募一婆羅門往大光明王處乞頭，大光明王隨即答應，群臣勸諫，不聽。遂由婆羅門砍頭而去，以實現其慈心。
此人即大光明王，束髮戴冠，臉龐長圓，雙眼上挑，口鼻圓潤，面無懼色，表情安詳自如。身著交領窄袖衫，外罩短衫，腰間束帶，左手扶頭，右手持刀於頸間，欲自割其頭。此像漢裝漢貌，表現的卻是印度佛本生故事中大光明王捨頭予婆羅門的一幕，體現了佛教藝術在北宋時期（960～1127）已經出現了民間化的傾向。
