惠日房成忍

畫僧 繪畫卷

號惠日房。生卒年不詳。日本鎌倉時代(1185~1333)前期畫僧。為開創京都姆尾山高山寺、中興日本華嚴宗有功者明惠上人之弟子。據《高山寺緣起》記載,成忍多繪製與京都高山寺有關之畫作,亦包括明惠上人之肖像畫。畫風鮮明清新,筆法柔和,以淡彩水墨表現氣韻及意趣,明顯受中國宋代(960~1279)繪畫之影響。
 高山寺珍藏的明惠上人像、華嚴宗祖師繪傳二幅作品推測為其所作,現皆為日本國寶。其中華嚴宗祖師繪傳之義湘繪第三卷,描繪韓國新羅(57 BCE~935)僧義湘入唐(618~907)留學歸國之際,有位仰慕義湘的唐代女子妙善,投海化成巨龍,守護航行之場面;元曉繪第二卷畫面是敕使入唐為求藥以治癒王妃重病,而得龍神指引,走向海底龍宮之景象,浪濤間跳躍的怪魚,乃想像中的摩竭魚。
