Joshinji Temple: Sakyamuni Buddha Triad

釋迦三尊像

日本

此三尊像雕造於十二世紀。自日本平安時代(794~1185)後期,根據《妙法蓮華經》多被製作為釋迦牟尼佛坐像與左右隨從騎獅文殊及乘象普賢二脇侍,此即是其實例。三像之軀幹皆由檜木整材雕出,頭部與身軀切開後再接合,刳空再嵌上蓋板。外表和內部均施加漆繪金箔,以呈現出「皆金色」相。一九七六年指定為日本重要文化財。
 主尊釋迦牟尼佛比例高大,作高肉髻,螺髮細小,額頭正中有白毫,眼瞼微啟,表情溫雅。肩寬胸厚,腰身內縮,右手施無畏印,左手置於膝上,予人平和沉靜之感。
 文殊、普賢二菩薩像高分別為57公分、57.4公分,皆束髮髻、戴高冠,文殊菩薩右手握劍,左手拇指與中指相捻,普賢菩薩則雙手合掌置於胸前,二像之造型與主尊相仿,為十二世紀少數三尊一組之作品而受矚目。
