炳靈寺石窟第172窟佛帳造像

甘肅永靖

位於佛帳內西南北三壁,共有泥塑九身,為一鋪完整的三世佛群像,原為北周(557~581)造像,經明代(1368~1644)重修重妝,但基本造型仍保持原樣。
 正壁(西壁)塑一佛二弟子像,南壁和北壁均為一佛二菩薩像。正壁坐佛像通高1.3公尺,肉髻已毀,面相清瘦,內著僧祇支,外著雙領下垂袈裟,腰部打結;左手於腹前握袖口,右手撫胸,一足露於袈裟外,結跏趺坐。左右二弟子為迦葉和阿難,均高1.05公尺,迦葉額頭有三道皺紋,阿難面相清俊,均內著僧祇支,外著雙領下垂式袈裟,籠袖而立。
 南壁坐佛通高1.3公尺,著通肩袈裟,結禪定印,結跏趺坐於方座上。兩側菩薩均高1.1公尺,佛左側菩薩綰「Y」形低髮髻,外罩頭巾,袒上身,下著裙,肩繞帔帛,兩手持物。右側菩薩著雙領下垂長袍,胸前有持物,袖手而立。
 北壁坐佛通高1.3公尺,著通肩袈裟,結禪定印,一足外露,結跏趺坐。兩側菩薩均高1.1公尺,東側菩薩雙手持寶珠,西側菩薩與南壁坐佛左側菩薩造型基本相同,兩手分持淨瓶和蓮花。
 三世佛是中國北方地區流行的造像題材,常以三壁三龕的形制配置組合,麥積山石窟北朝(386~581)晚期的洞窟中有多例保存,但在炳靈寺石窟北周窟中僅此一例。
