位於甘肅省張掖市甘州區大佛寺大佛殿。殿內彩塑現存三十一尊，主尊釋迦牟尼臥佛像，妝金彩繪，身長34.5公尺，肩寬1.5公尺，為中國現存最大的室內木胎泥塑臥佛。一九六六年於佛腹內發現鉛牌一面，知臥佛始造於西夏永安元年（1099）。
佛頭枕北方，足朝南方，面西，右脇累足而臥，與《大般涅槃經》所述吻合。佛右手枕於頭下，左手平放於身側，著團龍紅色袈裟，衣紋轉折流暢。臉龐略呈橢圓形，鼻梁高挺，容貌安詳自在，雙眼似開若閉，如寺中對聯所寫「視之若醒，呼之則寢」；從下半身往上看，佛眼似閉，但走到頭部，卻又微睜。
臥佛身後有十大弟子舉哀群像，表情相似，或老或少，均著交領廣袖袈裟，手勢不同。南北兩壁前塑十八羅漢，佛頭前和腳底站著類似皇族模樣形體高大的優婆塞和優婆夷各一尊，肅然而立。
