甘肅省酒泉市敦煌市莫高窟第17窟出土。屬九世紀作品。此畫幡描繪悉達多太子出家後，其父淨飯王命令五人追尋太子、太子入苦行林苦修及放棄苦行而入尼連禪河沐浴的場景。
圖最上方表現入山找尋太子的五人遭遇大雷雨，亦代表太子出家苦行所遇到的磨難。畫中雷神轉動連鼓，遠山飄來烏雲。中間場景為修苦行而瘦骨嶙峋的太子，於巖洞中冥想，洞前有二鹿對坐。最下方繪太子體悟過度的苦行無法獲得真理，因而放棄此修行方法，涉入尼連禪河中洗除污垢。圖中太子攀護岸邊的樹枝，上方有天人守護。
