Wat Florida Dhammaram

Wat Florida Dhammaram

USA, Florida, Kissimmee

This temple belongs to the Dhammayut Nikaya school and was built by Chaokhun Phra Tepvaraporn in 1993. In 2001, the temple was extended by an additional 2.3 ha from its original 0.8 ha, in response to growing needs.
The temple buildings include the ordination hall and the residence building. There are also replicas of pilgrimage sites, including the Mahadevi Temple in Lumbini, the Mahabodhi Temple at Bodhgaya, the Dhamekh Stupa at Sarnath, and the Mahaparinirvana Temple at Kushinagar.
The ordination hall occupies 340 sq m and has a three-tier gable roof with Thai style pediments. At the front of the hall there are two stylized nagas and a pair of guardians holding weapons. The roof ridges and bargeboards are richly decorated with stylized nagas and garudas. The pediment above the entrance features a Dharma wheel surrounded by curved patterns. The hall is surrounded by a colonnade lined with whitewashed columns as well as gold-painted capitals.
The residence building is located in front of the compound next to the ordination hall and occupies 360 sq m.
