These gold plates engraved with Buddhist texts were written in Pali using the Pyu script. They are 17.7 cm long and 3.8 cm high. The plates were connected together by string which was passed through the rough holes. These are permanent versions of the traditional palm leaf manuscripts on which Buddhist texts were written.
