Trashigang Dzong: Vajra

BHUTAN, Trashigang

This vajra is one of the treasures that was hidden by Padmasambhava. It was later discovered by Dorje Lingpa, and is now kept in Trashigang Dzong.
The center of the handle has a rounded section with a diamond pattern and a Sumeru-shaped lotus on either side. At each end of the handle, there is a five-prong vajra: the straight central prong is surrounded by four inward-curving ones, which emerge from the tiny heads of makaras. The five prongs represent the Five Dhyani Buddhas; the central prong symbolizes wisdom, while the remaining four symbolize skillful means.
