This mural in the ordination hall of Wat Chaiyathit in Thonburi, Bangkok, depicts Queen Maya, the future mother of the Buddha, traveling to her marriage ceremony. The queen rides in an ornate carriage drawn by a white horse. The intricate patterns, gilding, and tapered roof are all characteristic of royal chariots at the time. Maroon flags fly from naga-headed standards that connect to the bridle of the horse. Attendants and guards march beside the carriage. Dense green leaves and a dark blue background frame the carriage and contrast with the bright gilding. An elaborate palace roof can be seen in the lower right corner.
