Numerous murals depicting both religious and historical stories are painted in Myanmar’s Lawkahteikpan Temple. This image of a disciple is located to the right of the Buddha figure in the center of the south wall. The disciple wears a red robe and has a white, petal-shaped nimbus and aureole. He gazes to the left and joins his palms. The expressive eyebrows, pointed nose, long earlobes, and upturned lips are traced with fine black lines. The upward slanting eyes are a common feature of figures in images from the Bagan region.
