KOREA; Goryeo dynasty

This mirror has engraved images on both sides. The engraving on the front features Water-Moon Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva seated in the royal ease position and holding a vase. The water that flows from the vase depicts the Seven Disasters from the “Universal Gateway Chapter” of the Lotus Sutra. The back of the mirror is engraved with Mahamayuri riding a peacock and holding a sword and a sutra container.
