Mirror with Water-Moon Avalokitesvara

KOREA; Goryeo dynasty

This mirror is in the form of a fan and resembles Chinese Huzhou mirrors created during the Song dynasty (960–1279). On the back, there is a Chinese inscription stating the origin of the mirror.
The Bodhisattva sits in the royal ease posture. The Bodhisattva has a headdress with several ornaments and a nimbus, and is surrounded by a round mandorla. Water is shown as rippling waves below.
