
This mural is on the semicircular wall above the entrance on the front wall of the main chamber. Maitreya Bodhisattva teaching the Dharma is depicted in the center of the mural. The Bodhisattva wears celestial garments, and is seated in full lotus position on a tall, square pedestal. The hands form the vitarka (teaching) mudra. The figure dons a jeweled crown on the head and wears bracelets, armlets, and a necklace. Maitreya is flanked by five Bodhisattvas on each side. Each of them has a nimbus and wears celestial garments. The colors of the figures have darkened, giving the mural a less refined quality than it would have had previously.
