Qigxin: Head of a Heavenly Being

CHINA, Xinjiang, Bayingolin

The similarities among some of the heads discovered at the Qigxin site have suggested that they may have been created from the same mold and customized with different features, further differentiated by the placing of the head. This head has arched eyebrows, a prominent nose, and a small bow-like mouth in a round face that gazes upward. The curled fringe of hair seems to have been applied to the head before the large ears, which look as if they were later additions.
