Wat Ratburana: Bracelet

THAILAND, Ayutthaya; Ayutthaya Kingdom

Recovered from Wat Ratburana in Ayutthaya in 1957, this bracelet was created during the Ayutthaya Kingdom (circa 1350–1767) and was used for making offerings. It is made of gold and has a diameter of 8.4 cm with a width of 5.5 cm. The main features are ten-petal flowers embedded with gemstones in green, yellow, and black. The centers of the flowers consist of large gemstones bordered by a bead pattern. The bracelet is edged with lotus petals containing gemstones. The beads, lotus petals, and centers of the flowers were formed individually and then welded together.
