The Arhat worn with austerities stands gazing to one side and looking upwards. The head has a high-crown and the forehead is heavily lined. The figure’s facial features are pronounced, with large eyes, prominent brows, large nose, and high cheekbones. The facial hair of the figure is thick and rough. The right hand holds some prayer beads and the left hand is raised in abhaya (fearlessness) mudra. A bony chest is visible above the high sashed inner garment, over which the monastic robe is worn. The figure stands with right foot advanced over the edge of an inverted lotus pedestal. An inscription on the lower part of the rectangular pedestal records the statue was commissioned by many donors in the year 1180.
