Stoneware
This celadon bowl was created during the period of the Five Dynasties. It was discovered on the third story of Yunyan Temple Pagoda in 1956.
This artifact consists of a Sumeru-shape stand supporting a lower bowl, which follows the contours of a large, separate upper bowl. Together they resemble a blossoming lotus. The upper bowl is 8.9 cm high and the stand and lower bowl are 6.6 cm high. The diameter of the upper bowl is 13.9 cm, while that of the lower bowl is 14.9 cm. The stand, lower bowl, and upper bowl are all decorated with lotus petals. The simple glaze and elegant lotus design have resulted in an attractive piece of pottery, demonstrating the maturity of early celadon ware production.
