Chee Wan San Temple

MALAYSIA, Kuala Lumpur

Chee Wan San means Compassionate Cloud Mountain. It was founded in 1927 by the monk Shengkai from China. It has undergone expansions since its establishment.
The temple occupies an area of 10.8 ha. The main buildings are the Great Hero Hall and Great Compassion Hall. The two-story Great Hero Hall has a single-eave hip-and-gable roof. It consists of the chanting hall on the upper floor and the main hall below. The hall houses statues of Sakyamuni Buddha, Avalokitesvara, and Ksitigarbha Bodhisattvas. A smaller building in front of the hall contains Maitreya Buddha. The Great Compassion Hall has a double-eave hip-and-gable roof and is enshrined with a 9 m high golden Thousand-Armed, Thousand-Eyed Avalokitesvara.
