Fu Wen, also known as Zilai or Kaiting, was a painter from Guangning (present day Beizhen, Jinzhou). He studied painting under Gao Qipei and was skilled in painting figures, nature, landscapes, and Buddhist images. During the rule of Emperor Qianlong (reigned 1736–1795) of the Qing dynasty, Fu offered his paintings to the imperial court where he served as a military cavalry captain.
Fu’s work, Manifestation to Teach the Dharma, a total of over 30 scrolls painted in elegant colors, is kept at Fayuan Temple in Beijing. Other paintings include A Lone Temple in Cold Mountains, Mountain Residence in Autumn, and Ship Returning from Distant Shore, all of which are kept at the National Palace Museum in Taipei, Taiwan.
