Wang Shaoying

CHINA; Tang dynasty

Wang Shaoying, also known as Zhaoyin or Chaoying, was a painter who specialized in portraying landscapes, figures, horses, and Buddhist imagery. According to Overview of Painting and Famous Paintings in History, he painted all of the heavenly beings on the doors at Jingyu Temple in Shaanxi. Wang was also known to have created murals on both sides of the central doors at Qinglong Temple in Shaanxi and in the Garden Vihara at Changshou Temple.
