Fo Guang Shan Temple of Western Australia

Fo Guang Shan Temple of Western Australia

AUSTRALIA, Western Australia, Perth

The temple is the first branch temple of Fo Guang Shan in Western Australia, and aims to bridge the cultures of the east and west. The Buddha’s Light International Association in Western Australia was founded in 1993. Construction of the temple started the following year and it was completed in 1998.
The temple site occupies 4,400 sq m, and the buildings cover an area of 3,600 sq m. The main building includes the Great Hero Hall, Prajna Hall, meditation hall, sutra calligraphy hall, library, museum, conference rooms, and a tea house. Its roof is covered with yellow glazed tiles, with ornaments decorating the ridges. The Great Hero Hall houses statues of Sakyamuni Buddha, the Medicine Buddha, and Amitabha Buddha, with Avalokitesvara and Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva on the two sides. The Five Dhyani Buddhas are enshrined in niches in the walls, together with Bodhisattvas making offerings.
