This ceiling is in the main chamber. The center of the caisson features a lotus motif with intertwining vines and is bordered by six patterns, including honeysuckle, squares, petals, beads, pennants, and apsaras. The four slopes of the ceiling are illustrated with Thousand Buddhas in red, yellow, gray, and green.
Of notable interest are the 16 apsaras on the outermost border of the caisson. There are four on each side playing musical instruments. Painted on a blue and gray background with white clouds drifting between them, they soar through the air in fluid postures. Each wears a long, flowing lower garment and a long stole that flutters in the wind. Their instruments include a zither, pear-shaped lute, and panpipe. The light colors highlight the apsaras among the darker surrounding patterns.
