This mural is in the center of the back (west) wall and is one of three teaching Buddha images in the cave. The other two teaching Buddhas are on the north and south walls. The Buddha wears striking white robe and a crown, and is seated in full lotus position. An elliptical nimbus and mandorla surround the figure, and the face is round with a white urna between the eyebrows. The elongated earlobes extend to the shoulders, and there are two lines on the neck. The Buddha’s hands are held with the palms facing outward. The right hand is raised before the chest and the left is near the waist with the fingers pointing downward. The feet are hidden within the flowing robes which hang over the throne in numerous folds.
