This image is located on the right side of the back (west) wall within the main chamber of Cave 199. The Bodhisattva wears a crown with a lotus in the center and two ribbons hanging from the sides. The face of the figure is round, with a small mouth and narrowed, tranquil eyes. The Bodhisattva is dressed in flowing robes, and a stole is draped around the arms. A vase containing a lotus is held in the right hand. The upper body is tilted back slightly, and the heel of one foot is slightly raised as if walking. Flowers and foliage surround the Bodhisattva, and seated Buddhas are painted above the nimbus. The plump figure, delicate lines, and soft colors are consistent with the Mid-Tang (756–846) style.
