Myohyangsan Bohyeonsa Temple Geumganggulam Hermitage

Myohyangsan Bohyeonsa Temple Geumganggulam Hermitage

NORTH KOREA, North Pyongan, Hyangsan

This hermitage is located near Bohyeonsa (Samantabhadra Temple). It was built in the late Goryeo dynasty (918–1392) and reconstructed in the late Joseon dynasty (1392–1910).
The hermitage is constructed within a natural cave, utilizing the rock formation as part of its structure. It is a three-by-two bay structure, with earthen flooring in the central and left-hand bays. A small statue of the Buddha is enshrined in the small hermitage, which has room for only one person. Above the entrance there is a horizontal board that is inscribed with four Chinese characters.
