The statue is currently enshrined in the Great Hero Hall at Xinchaofeng Temple. It was brought to Taiwan in 1763 from Putuoshan in China and transferred to the present temple at around 1945. The style of the statue is similar to other statues found at Putuoshan, but the headdress and electronic nimbus were later additions.
Avalokitesvara is seated in full lotus position with hands in the dhyana (meditation) mudra. A shawl covers the hair and drapes over the shoulders. A robe with an embroidered hem is opened at the front to reveal a necklace. The material of the skirt ripples between the legs and excess material hangs over the cushion of the throne to the reversed lotus beneath.
