The temple is located northeast of Bawbawgyi Pagoda. It was built between the 7th and 9th centuries, and was one of the earliest temples in Myanmar.
The temple is a 10 m high brick building. The temple is square with arched doorways on each of its four sides; however, only the doorway on the east side is an actual entrance. Above the square structure there are three tiers, on which stands a plain, tapered, cylindrical structure with a rounded top. Originally the temple had a spire but it is no longer extant. Bebe Temple served as a prototype for later small temples in Bagan.
