Kumgangsan: Amitabha Buddha Triad

The statues were found inside an inscribed stone container on Kumgangsan that date them to 1429. All three figures sit in full lotus positions on double lotus thrones and were cast as single pieces. Their robes are individually molded with careful attention to detail. At the center is Amitabha Buddha, making a mudra with the right hand. The monastic robes are opened at the front and reveals the garment underneath. Avalokitesvara wears a crown with a Buddha, and sits on the right while the capped Ksitigarbha is on the left, both making the lotus mudra. The Bodhisattvas wear necklaces and jewelry.
