The temple is also known as Guan Yin Temple. The land was donated by two Buddhists from Hong Kong, and the temple was constructed between 1981 and 1983.
The temple has an area of 4 ha. Along the central axis there are the Seven Buddha Pavilion, the Main Gracious Hall, and the Tripitaka Hall. The Thousand Buddha Hall and Ksitigarbha Hall are situated at the sides. The Main Gracious Hall has a double-eave hip-and-gable roof. It has two stories: on the upper level there is the Great Hero Hall, while the dining hall is on the lower level. A 10.7 m high seated Sakyamuni Buddha statue made of camphor wood is enshrined in the Great Hero Hall. It is flanked by Manjusri and Samantabhadra Bodhisattvas, as well as Thousand-Armed, Thousand-Eyed Avalokitesvara and Ksitigarbha Bodhisattvas. The Seven Buddha Pavilion houses a 22.3 m ceramic mural of the Seven Buddhas, the largest Buddhist ceramic mural in the world. A statue of Ten-Thousand-Armed, Ten-Thousand-Eyed Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva stands in front of the mural. The two-story Tripitaka Hall houses a jade statue of seated Sakyamuni Buddha on the upper level, which is known as the Jade Buddha Hall. A meditation hall and library are located on the lower level. The temple is recognized by the city of Richmond as a Point of Pride for its traditional Chinese architecture, culture, and arts, as well as providing local people with a venue for spiritual inspiration.
