Huong Tich Temple: Main Hall

Huong Tich Temple

VIETNAM, Ha Tinh, Can Loc

The temple was built during the Tran dynasty (1225–1399) and was renovated in 1970. It is listed as a National Cultural Heritage Site.
Situated on an overhanging cliff, the temple can only be accessed by boat. The principal buildings include the Southern Heaven Gate, Heavenly King Hall, and main hall. There are also a number of smaller temples and caves in the vicinity.
The multi-story Southern Heaven Gate has three arched doorways. The horizontal inscribed board reads “Entering the Land of Bliss” in Chinese characters. The main hall is located at the top of the cliff and has a horizontal inscribed board with the Chinese characters “Amitabha Buddha” above the entrance. The temple preserves several valuable cultural artifacts, including a stone stele from the Tran dynasty.
