The Buddha sits in half lotus position on a rectangular throne decorated at the base with a row of lions. Though the hands are damaged, they were in dhyana (meditation) mudra. An oval nimbus rimmed with flames is behind the head, with its flame-tipped usnisa. The branches of the Bodhi tree are clearly identified by the shape of the leaves rise behind the Buddha. The presence of the tree suggests the statue represents the moment of enlightenment. A parasol is above the head and on both sides of the nimbus are divine figures in four-ringed crowns. Their bodies incline inwards and each holds a whisk in the right hand.
