Vajrasattva

NEPAL

The Bodhisattva is identified by the vajra held upright in the right hand and the vajra-handled bell in the left hand. The figure wears a three-leaf crown fronted by a seated Aksobhya Buddha. The crown has floral sidepieces and attached ribbons. An urna is present on the forehead and the three lines of a great person are visible on the neck. The upper body is adorned with jewelry and a sacred thread. The buckled skirt is decorated with starburst patterns and folds tightly about the legs. The figure stands in the tribhanga posture that tips the head to one side.
