Baojue Temple: Maitreya Buddha

TAIWAN, Taichung

The statue was created under the guidance of the 4th abbot, monk Zongxin and has since become the landmark of Baojue Temple.
In bright gold color, this smiling Maitreya Buddha sits in a variation of the relaxation posture, while holding prayer beads in one hand and his robe with the other. The upper body is unclothed except for the monastic robe that is draped casually over his shoulders. An inscription on the platform reads, “Everyone is happy.”
The area around the Maitreya Buddha statue is called Tongxin Park, which includes a number of Maitreya statues in a variety of postures.
