Ajanta Cave 1: Ceiling

INDIA, Maharashtra, Aurangabad

The gorgeous ceiling is arranged systematically with large and small images. In addition to lotuses, there are representations of fruits and vegetables, flowers, plants, geese, mythical creatures, and dwarves. Among the exceptional images is a creature with the head and upper body of a bull and the tail of plants. The ceiling is rich in color and has vivid outlines, reflecting the sophisticated artistic achievements of this period.
