Rigdzin Peljor was the son of Tibetan art master Letsen Sonam Rinchen. He followed in his father’s footsteps as a painter and also learned from Yeshe Gyatso at a young age. In 1955, Rigdzin Peljor was involved in the painting of murals at the Takten Migyur Palace of Norbulingka Palace with his father who supervised the project. Together with senior painter Trinle Chopel and other young painters, they completed murals featuring Origin of Tibet, Tibetan Kings and Officials, Gelug Lineage Tree, Heritage of the Dalai Lamas, and Biography of Tsongkhapa, and the Dalai Lama Portraits. These works are regarded as Tibetan art masterpieces.
Rigdzin Peljor began working for the Ancient Art Restoration Center in 1980 and became the supervisor for the mural restoration projects of the Maitreya Shrine in Tashilhunpo Monastery in 1982, and Sakya Monastery in 1983. His paintings can be found in Sakya Monastery, the Potala Palace, Norbulingka Palace, Tashilhunpo Monastery, and Jokhang Temple.
