Chongfu Temple Amitabha Hall: Amitabha Buddha Triad - Attendant Bodhisattva

Chongfu Temple Amitabha Hall: Amitabha Buddha Triad

CHINA, Shanxi, Shuozhou; Jin dynasty

The Amitabha Buddha Triad consists of Amitabha Buddha, Avalokitesvara, and Mahasthamaprapta Bodhisattvas. They are enshrined within Amitabha Hall along with four attendant Bodhisattvas and two Heavenly Kings.
The figures are seated in full lotus position on lotus thrones, each forming a mudra. Each has a large, ornately decorated mandorla. The attendant Bodhisattvas have their hair in topknots and are elegantly dressed in colorful robes. They wear ornate necklaces. Their nimbuses are decorated in the same style as that of the Buddha.
