The pagoda is located on a slope behind Yongtai Temple. According to a stele dated 752 of the Tang dynasty, the pagoda was probably first built in 602 during the Sui dynasty, although the existing structure is from the Tang dynasty (618–907). It was listed as a National Cultural Heritage Site in 2001.
The eleven-story, square, hollow, brick pagoda is 24 m high. There is no stone or brick base. An arched doorway is located on the south side leading to a square chamber. The spire consists of an upturned lotus and five stacked rings. The pagoda has a tapered curved shape.
