Karla Cave 8: Mithuna Couple

INDIA, Maharashtra, Pune

This mithuna couple is located within a rectangular niche on the wall outside the cave entrance. The male figure on the right is stout and stands with one leg slightly bent. His right arm is wrapped around the female to his left and his left arm is on his hip. The female has broad hips and a narrow waist. She stands with legs crossed, her left arm wrapped around the man’s shoulder, and her right hand raised behind her head. Both figures are bare-chested and wear head scarves.
