This illustration is situated on the lower north wall and extends onto part of the front (east) wall within the main chamber. It corresponds to the Journey of Zhang Yichao on the south and front walls. Compared with the strict and orderly march of Zhang and his army, the procession depicted here appears relaxed and celebratory. On the far left, a performer balances a vertical pole on his head while four children swing from several crosspieces at the top. To the right, a troupe of dancers performs. The dancers are followed by a band of musicians, palanquins and carriages, and figures on horseback. In the center of the procession is Lady Song, the wife of Zhang Yichao, riding a white horse. She has a high topknot decorated with jeweled hairpins and wears a silver dress with wide sleeves. Taking the rear are logistical attendants responsible for hunting and navigation. A cartouche beside the mural reads, “Journey of Lady Song of Henei County.” Other inscriptions describe the various elements within the scene.
