These paintings are located on the side walls of the main chamber. Both walls have three rows of five illustrations that depict scenes from the Life of the Buddha and karma stories. The layout of each is similar with a central Buddha surrounded by heavenly beings, disciples, and lay people. The figures either present offerings or listen to the Dharma.
The illustration shown above is located in the upper row on the left wall. The Buddha is seated in full lotus position on a rectangular throne and wears a monastic robe that bares the right shoulder. He holds a bowl in the left hand, while the right hand forms a mudra. The Buddha is encircled by a nimbus and an aureole, and four figures are gathered around. Two monks stand above, each holding a bowl, while a monk on the lower right is seated with head lowered, also holding a bowl. A figure who wears many ornaments is seen to the lower left. Kneeling, he raises up a bowl with both hands in a gesture of offering.
