Fo Guang Shan Monastery Bamboo Garden Lodge Jetavana Meeting Hall: Amitabha Buddha Assembly

This mural features Amitabha Buddha flanked by Avalokitesvara and Mahasthamaprapta Bodhisattvas. All three have patterned nimbuses and aureoles, and there are colorful canopies above their heads. Seated in full lotus position on a Sumeru throne, the Buddha raises his right hand in the vitarka (teaching) mudra. On the right, Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva, sitting in relaxation posture, wears a headdress decorated with an image of a Buddha. The body is slightly tilted, with the left hand placed on the throne, and the right hand resting on the knee. A vase can be seen beside Avalokitesvara. Mahasthamaprapta Bodhisattva is on the left, wearing a headdress ornamented with an image of a vase and holding a lotus.
Beside the canopies, there are two apsaras flying through the air with fluttering stoles. Flanking the central figures, there are figures listening to the Dharma, Heavenly Kings holding a banner and a pagoda, Dharma protectors, monks, and heavenly beings. On the left, there is a bearded figure attired in the style of an emperor, wearing a loose robe and tasseled crown, and accompanied by attendants carrying parasols and banners.
In front of the triad, there are two heavenly dancers. Five heavenly musicians are shown on the left, playing a hammered string instrument, a bell, an ancient harp, a waist drum, and a free reed instrument. On the right, there is a square pond filled with lotuses, from which small children and a heavenly being emerge.
