Gilt bronze
The temple records state devotees commissioned the sculpture in 1476. The statue was taken from the temple in 1936, and was in Japan. It was returned to the temple two years later. It was listed as Treasure No. 279 in 1963.
The Bodhisattva sits cross-legged, wearing a lotus-ornamented cap with long flaps that extend over the elaborate upper robe. The robe is open to reveal a necklace and a wide-hemmed under robe. The painted features are simplified. The third finger of the raised right hand bends inward in a compassionate gesture while the left hand appears to make a mudra. All the elements point to the style of the Joseon dynasty (1392–1910).
