
Copper alloy
The colossal statue was completed in 1998 and depicts Avalokitesvara sitting in full lotus position on a lotus throne. The figure is otherwise depicted conventionally: crowned, jeweled, carrying a vase in the left hand while the right is raised in lotus mudra. Underneath the throne, there is a hall surrounded by water and accessed by bridges on all four sides.
