Vessel

CHINA; Tang dynasty

This silver ritual vessel is a Dharma instrument used during Buddhist ceremonies. Its spherical body sits on a low cylindrical base and is decorated with birds, floral designs, and auspicious creatures against a stipple background. A plain band is found near the shoulder, and the long, slender neck curves slightly outward to form a broad rim.
