Plaque with Standing Buddha

MYANMAR

The Buddha is depicted with fine eyebrows, big eyes, a high nose, well-defined lips, and curled hair with a usnisa in the shape of a lotus bud. He wears a robe that crosses his left shoulder and extends down to his waist, and his lower garment is decorated with a chain-pattern hem. Standing erect with out-turned feet on a lotus pedestal, his right knee is slightly bent. The Buddha’s right hand is raised up to his chest in vitarka (teaching) mudra, while the left is held down by his side. A flame pattern frames the entire figure.
