Schist
This Gandharan relief panel depicts six figures located between a pair of Indo-Corinthian columns. They stand in related pairs but are also unified as a group by the rhythm of their separate movements. Each figure is holding a lotus in one hand, while the other hand is generally placed on the hip. Their hair is elaborately dressed and they wear formal robes that leave most of the upper body bare. The dynamic posture of each figure is individually posed. Aristocratic in appearance, they are most likely benefactors. The muscular form of the bodies and details of the clothing strongly reflect the Hellenistic decorative style.
