Quanxiu

CHINA, Jiangsu, Kunshan; Ming to Qing dynasty

Originally named Li Zichai and also known as Mengquan Daoren, Quanxiu was a monk, calligrapher, and painter. He was at one time a scholar, but after the fall of the Ming dynasty (1368–1644), he renounced to become a monk. He was talented in poetry, calligraphy, and painting, and specialized in the depiction of figures and nature. His biography was included in the Biographies of Painters from the Qing Dynasty and Selected Biographies of Calligraphers from in the Qing Dynasty.
