Bamiyan West Buddha Niche: Male Figure Making an Offering

AFGHANISTAN, Bamiyan

This mural was located on the east side of the ceiling within the West Buddha Niche, and was destroyed by the Taliban in 2001. It depicted a male figure holding a large tray above his head in offering. The figure kneeled while looking to one side. His lapelled overcoat, riding boots, and short sword were indicative of nobility.
