This mural was originally located on the side wall of the main chamber at Simsen Cave 46. The Buddha is seated in full lotus position on a Sumeru throne, and forms the vitarka (teaching) mudra. He is encircled by a nimbus and an aureole, and is surrounded by an audience who listens to the teaching of the Dharma. The figures are clad in different costumes and hold various items. The figure to the right smiles at the Buddha with hands to the side. There are two figures to the left: one is bare to the waist and holds an object in both hands, while the other, whose face is ruined, is clad in Kuchean attire and holds a cane.
